Elocution: A World Without the Internet — Could We Survive?

Good morning respected teacher, judges, and my dear friends.

Let me ask you a terrifying question.

What if you wake up tomorrow morning… and there is NO INTERNET?

No WhatsApp.
No YouTube.
No Google.

And worst of all…

NO ONLINE GAMES!

I think some students would immediately run to their parents and say,

“Mummy! The Internet is not working!”

And the parents would calmly reply,

“Good. Now go and study!”

Suddenly, the Internet would become our biggest enemy!

Today, we use the Internet for almost everything.

We use Google when we don't know an answer.

We use YouTube when we don't know how to do something.

We use maps when we don't know where we are.

And sometimes…

we use the Internet to find our phone—which is actually in our hand!

The Internet has made our lives incredibly easy.

Need to talk to someone?

Video call.

Need to buy something?

Click!

Need food?

Order online.

Need homework help?

Search online.

Need to know what happened 500 years ago?

Google knows!

But imagine a world without the Internet.

Your teacher asks:

“Who discovered gravity?”

And instead of secretly searching Google, you have to actually remember the answer!

Suddenly, the classroom becomes very quiet.

You look at your friend.

Your friend looks at you.

And both of you think:

“If only Google were here!”

But the truth is, people survived perfectly well before the Internet.

Students studied from books.

People wrote letters.

We used physical maps.

If we wanted to meet a friend, we actually went to their house!

Imagine that!

No “Where are you?”

No “Send me your location.”

You simply knocked on the door and said,

“Are you coming out to play?”

And guess what?

People also survived without online games!

Children played football, cricket, hide-and-seek and other games outside.

They came home tired, happy—and sometimes covered in mud.

But the Internet has also brought wonderful opportunities.

A student sitting in a small village can watch lessons from teachers anywhere in the world.

We can learn languages, explore space, visit virtual museums and discover information within seconds.

So, should we throw away the Internet?

Definitely not!

The problem is not the Internet.

The problem is when we cannot live without it.

If the Wi-Fi stops working for five minutes, some of us behave as if civilization has ended!

We restart the router.

We check the phone.

We check the Wi-Fi.

We check the phone again.

And finally we ask:

“Is there something wrong with the Internet?”

Maybe the Internet is perfectly fine.

Maybe we are the problem!

My dear friends,

We don't need to choose between the online world and the real world.

We need both.

Use Google—but also use your brain.

Watch YouTube—but also go outside and play.

Message your friends—but also talk to them face-to-face.

Use technology—but don't let technology use you.

Because if the Internet disappears tomorrow, we will survive.

We may panic for a few hours…

especially the gamers!

But eventually, we will discover something amazing:

There is a whole world outside the screen.

A world with friends, family, books, sports, nature, laughter—and absolutely no buffering!

So let us enjoy the Internet, but remember:

Wi-Fi connects us to the world, but real life connects us to each other.

Thank you!
